To develop a knowledge pack with a minimum of three items in a self locking envelope from any theme from Museum Victoria’s range of temporary or permanent exhibitions.

Bugs Alive!
IDEA
I am proposing a pack based on the bugs’ hunting techniques with their mouth structure. The structure of a typical bug’s mouth has four sections. Different bug’s mouth has different amounts of the components, but they have five hunting techniques to hunt for food. Therefore, there will be three items to help the audience to understand and interact with the five different bugs. The five selected bugs are honeybee, ground beetle, butterfly, mosquito and blow fly.
“What is the food, lifespan and size of bugs?” is an A2 size long brochure that provides some information about the five selected bugs such as size, food, lifespan and types of mouth. The brochure begins as a booklet and it can unfold to see the five bugs standing on top of each other to compare and see the bugs’ size. Each bug is present in their actual size.
“What is the structure of a typical bug’s mouth?” is a tunnel book showing the structure of a typical book showing the structure of a typical bug’s mouth. When the book is opened, the structure is revealed completely. There are four sections of mouth structure. Each section can take out to see the description of the mouth structure. Besides that, the audience can place in the correct position according to the number listed in the section.
“What are the bug’s hunting techniques?” is a star pop up book. It provides the five hunting techniques with the five bugs using pop up. The audience can interact with the mechanism to understand how the mouth structure moves to eat food and the name and description of the hunting techniques. The pop up book can turn around and become a star book and use as a decoration book on the table to keep reminding and learning.
The visual style is vector with gradient colour. There will be five colours presented by the bugs with black colour. That is honeybee with yellow, ground beetle with orange, butterfly with blue, mosquito with red and blow fly with green. The background will be in white background with transparent green leaf texture as design to enhance the bugs.
